SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship Information for OACA Members
The OACA has annually awarded eight $1,000 student-athlete scholarships to high school graduating seniors of OACA members. New for 2024-25, we will be increasing this to eight $2,000 student-athlete scholarships for high school graduating seniors of OACA members.
In addition to the eight annual scholarships, the OACA is pleased to offer two additional scholarships: The Coach Dave Johnson Scholarship and the OACA Directors and Presidents Scholarship. Both of these scholarships are open to all high school graduating student-athletes. Parental membership with the OACA is not required.
The Coach Dave Johnson Scholarship is awarded to a college-bound student-athlete who has been highly impacted by their coach in order to reach a level of success, both on and off the field of play, that makes them a credit to their team, school and community. This scholarship is sponsored by Dave Dowling, South Salem HS graduate, in honor of Coach Johnson’s meaningful impact on his life as a young student-athlete, as well as all the coaches in our state that are positively impacting kids daily. The scholarship winner will be eligible for a $2,500 scholarship. They would receive $1,000 for their first semester of school. If the scholarship winner meets certain requirements during their first semester, they will be eligible to receive $1,500 for their second semester of school.
The OACA, along with support from Jennifer & Jarod Teeter, created the OACA Directors & Presidents Scholarship to recognize a deserving student-athlete. This $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by former OACA directors and presidents who desire to “give back” in appreciation of the OACA. Please note that this scholarship is nomination-based and cannot be applied for directly by a graduating senior.
Criteria for the OACA Directors & Presidents Scholarship Nomination:
- Outstanding character, sportsmanship and leadership – a student/athlete who truly stands out among his or her peers.
- Emphasis placed on student pursuing a career in education.
- Emphasis given to multi-sport athletes.
Completed scholarship applications, including a resume, a copy of the student’s 7-semester transcript, and two letters of recommendation (written by coaches, faculty, or employers), will be due March 15, 2025.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION WILL OPEN ON DECEMBER 16TH. Please check back then!
