Beaverton High School seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as Varsity Head Girls Tennis coach.  A successful candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • High ethical and professional standards.
  • The presence to be a role model for high school student athletes and the public face of the program
  • A commitment to the importance of academic excellence and achievement for all student-athletes in the program.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead young athletes
  • A highly tuned ability to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders
  • Skill in organization, time management, and public relations
  • A thorough knowledge of tennis, skill development, and coaching techniques

The BHS Head Girls Tennis Coach will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage all aspects of the high school program including summer training, tryouts, practice schedules and routines.
  • Hire and oversee a staff of assistant coaches
  • Provide regular communication with parents/families
  • Regularly track the academic progress of all student athletes in the program and facilitate necessary supports to ensure their academic eligibility.
  • Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports and encourage athletes to compete in other programs.
  • Develop and implement an off-season program for athletics.
  • Oversee a youth program below the 9th grade level.
  • Work with local media as needed and establish strong working relationships with community support groups.

The BHS Head Girls Tennis Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director and Principal

All new hired coaches will need to complete the following prior to employment:

1.  NFHS Certification.

2.  First Aid Card.

3.  District Fingerprinting/Criminal Check.

4.  Completion of OSAA Concussion Test.

5.  Completion of OSAA Steroid Program.

6.  Completion of School District and OSAA paperwork.

7.  Completion of OSAA Heat Acclimatization and Heat Illness Prevention.

8.  Completion of All District Requirements and employment forms.

Qualifications:
Experience with high school students and the sport/activity.  Certification through the NFHS Coaches Certification Program (ASEP) is required of all coaches prior to the start of the season.  OSAA Concussion, OSAA Heat Acclimatization, and ODE Steroid Assessments must be taken and passed prior to the start of the season. First Aid Certification and Bloodborne Pathogen training can be obtained through the district.
 
Special requirements:
The person employed for this position must be able to verify identity and employment authorization.  The candidate selected for this position must complete a pre-employment record check and have a fingerprint verification done through the Oregon Department of Education.  The selected candidate will pay $10-$20 for a set of fingerprints and $59.00 for the verification check.
